Gannet SAR Flight - Farewell Flight II Limited Edition Poster

£42.50

Signed and numbered Edition of a long awaited second Farewell Flight Poster, an Illustrated poster of Search and Rescue Helicopters passing the Wallace Monument in Stirling, Scotland.

The poster celebrates the farewell flight made by two of three Sea King helicopters of Gannet SAR Flight on 14th January 2016 around Scotland, taking in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Troon, Oban, Tyndrum and Ayr.

Based at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire, Gannet SAR Flight took over from 819 Naval Air Squadron in 2001. 819 squadron having performed military and civil search and rescue from there since 1971. During the Gannnet Flight’s term it flew over 4,000 missions and rescued over 3,500 people. The Squadron was consistently the busiest SAR unit in the UK and it’s crews won many awards for their efforts over the years.

The squadron was de-commissioned in 2016 and their duties taken over by Bristows on behalf of HM Coastguard Agency, part of the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

I am hoping to offer a framed option for this in the near future.
